We are currently looking to fill the role of Patrol Manager for 2019-2020 winter season. This is a full-time, seasonal position from October 2019 through to April 2020. Responsibilities:

  • The effective supervision and motivation of up to 15 paid patrol staff.
  • Monitor daily and weekly labour outputs in accordance with the approved labour budget.
  • Development of all patrol staff through continuous on-site training.
  • Ensuring a departmental culture that is positive and unbiased.
  • Supervision and coordination of Patrol; both paid and non-paid.
  • Ensuring the safety of resort staff and guests through effective injury and incident prevention methods including but not limited to: Daily ski/snowboard terrain inspections.
  • In coordination with the Avalanche Forecaster; develop, review, and conduct a safe and effective avalanche control program.
  • Ensuring a consistent presence of patrol in public areas during operating hours.
  • Leading, or being a key member of executing emergency procedures safely and efficiently should they arise.
  • Ensuring adequate first aid and safety coverage through effective scheduling of resources.
  • Assisting in the investigation of incidents that may occur involving staff, guests or both.
  • The inventory, maintenance and security of all patrol and department facilities and equipment.
  • Ensuring that all injury and incident paperwork is completed correctly and within acceptable time frames.
  • Assisting in guest transport using company vehicles such as trucks and snowmobiles.
  • Ensuring that all other duties assigned to department staff are completed on time and in the manner described.
  • Administering first aid services to injured staff and guests.
  • Educating staff and guests to the components of the Alpine Responsibility Code; where necessary.
  • Perform weekly OH&S Safety talks and site inspections.

Qualifications:

  • Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 3 and/or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and/or 80hr Advanced Wilderness First Aid; CPR level ‘C’
  • Expert skiing ability in all terrain and conditions.
  • 2 years minimum patrol experience
  • WorkSafeBC blasting certification
  • CAA Avalanche Operations Level 1 or higher

Responsibilities:

  • Daily coordination with the sales desk and group sales regarding booking and scheduling of all snow school products.
  • Orientation, training and development of all instructors.

  • Ensure scheduling is on target with the projected volume for each week while maintaining the budget set by the General Manager.

Qualifications:

Position Description:

SMR HR & Employee experience manager will guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for SMR who employees between 170 – 230 people annually. The position will require someone with experience in the responsibilities but ultimately is a confident leader and wants to create a unique environment for everyone to enjoy. SMR is an established Ski Resort in the Fraser Valley BC and empowering fun is mandatory for everyone. This position will require a high functioning, creative and solution orientated individual who wants to be a part of a team with the same passions.

The successful applicant will be a part of the senior management team and will work closely with all department heads. Being a seasonal Ski Resort SMR employs a global transient workforce that can be up to 50% of the total hires. We are currently looking for an Equipment Operator. This is a full-time position that starts as soon as possible. This position will be required to work on both resort and utility projects.   • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Ensure all machinery is safely and securely stored at the end of each shift.
  • Assist the mechanic with maintenance and repairs, where required.
  • Ensure maintenance issues with machinery are effectively communicated with the mechanic.
  • Practice proper radio protocol as per company policy.

Responsibilities:

Retail

  • Aid in the selection and ordering of new apparel & inventory for the current and following season
  • Assist with the pre-season set-up of the retail store. This would include but not be limited to:
    • Receiving and tracking new inventory as it arrives
    • Overseeing all shipments/packing slips & ensure they are in alignment with our orders & invoices.
    • Assisting in the setup and layout of the store and the visual merchandising of all items
    • Ordering additional inventory as needed through current suppliers.
  • Get to know all products and conduct staff product knowledge sessions.
  • Learn our POS system (Oracle), how to program and edit products, and train staff on how to use it
  • Manage inventory; Track and conduct inventory counts in store and on the floor on a monthly basis
  • Aid in the supervision and training of all retail staff

Group Sales

  • Learn, promote & sell group programs/Sasquatch products to local schools, businesses and community members
  • Assist the Group Sales manager in the administration and coordination of group visits. You will oversee their on-hill experience upon arrival including ticketing, getting students through rentals and into their lessons
  • Communicate all pertinent information regarding groups with other departments on the resort
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and new clients/coordinators through regular communication and outstanding personalized service.
  • Assist in the delivery of the school safety orientations and invoices to coordinators

Events/Promotions

  • Assist in the planning and execution of both on and off-hill events/activities for both guests and staff
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of our Social Media plan and marketing strategic goals
  • Create promotional material/posters/adverts as needed to assist in the promotion of events and on hill activities

Qualifications:

  • Hands on experience in a retail setting; selling, POS, cash-outs, inventory management, purchasing
  • Experience with visual merchandising or eye for design and knowledge of current fashion trends pertaining to the ski industry

  • Perform regular maintenance on all machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ensure all machinery, equipment, and vehicles meet all safety standards and manufacturers guidelines.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies and parts are in stock.
  • Perform on-hill field repairs of machinery, equipment, and vehicles, as required.
  • Ensure shop is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
  • Maintain adequate fluid levels at all times: diesel, gasoline, oils, coolants, etc.
  • Ensure constant communication with other departments with regards to machinery, equipment, and vehicle downtimes and maintenance schedules.
  • On-call during winter season operating hours, where required.
  • Practice safe work procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Journeymen Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Experience working on Prinoth grooming machinery is required; Piston Bully grooming machinery is an asset.
  • 3 or more years’ experience working on heavy duty machinery is preferred.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, with air ticket is preferred.
  • Knowledge of proper rigging procedures is preferred.
  • WHMIS training is an asset.
  • Welding ticket is an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematics.
