Ski/Snowboard Instructor Level 2

Rental Shop Supervisor

We are currently seeking a Rental Shop Supervisor. This is a full-time, seasonal position that runs from November to April. To apply, please email your resume, qualifications, and references to hr@sasquatchmountainresort.ca

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the manager with the day to day operations of the rental and repair department
  • Assist with the scheduling of rental & repair staff
  • Outfit guests with the properly sized equipment to ensure a positive resort experience
  • Maintain proper maintenance on all rental equipment as required
  • Operate the POS system with proficiency
  • Ensure proper staffing levels at all times.
  • Ensure all department staff are properly trained.
  • Assist in providing department training for staff; including but not limited to binding certification, boot fitting, and in-house testing.
  • Ensure guest complaints are dealt with according to company policy.
  • Ensure that department runs in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Give weekly OH&S safety talks and perform weekly site inspections.
  • Deliver a high degree of customer service.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A college diploma or university degree in ski resort operations, business management or a related field is an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years rental shop experience is preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Previous equipment repair experience is an asset
  • Proven leadership skills

Groomer Operators

We are looking to fill the role of Grooming Operator for the upcoming 2018-19 winter season. Full-time and part-time positions are available. These positions are from November-April. Responsibilities:

  • Operate all grooming equipment, including winch cable grooming equipment, in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Complete daily vehicle log sheets and checklists
  • Perform pre-start-up inspections as per pre-established checklists.
  • Perform shut-down and post-operational procedures including necessary documentation regarding machine maintenance.
  • Adhere to all company operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Arrive to work on time, rested, and ready for your shift.
  • Keep buildings and lift terminals clear of hazards and excess snow.
  • Ensure a high-quality grooming product.
  • Practice safe work procedures at all times.
  • Operate during designated hours set by the Grooming Supervisor and Director of Mountain Operations as to not interfere with resort operational hours.
  • Report all ski run hazards, both current and potential, to the patrol department by the designated time each operational morning.
  • Assist the mechanic with maintenance on grooming equipment, where needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous grooming experience is preferred.
  • Previous mountain operations experience is an asset.
  • Previous heavy equipment operating experience is preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to work alone and/or with others.

Heavy Equipment Operator

We are currently looking to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator. This is a full-time, year-round position.
Wage: Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  • Ensure all machinery is safely and securely stored at the end of each shift.
  • Assist the mechanic with maintenance and repairs, where required.
  • Ensure maintenance issues with machinery are effectively communicated with the mechanic.
  • Ensure all parking lots, access ways, and relevant buildings are clear and free of snow.
  • Ensure all parking lots and access ways are sanded.
  • Ensure all utilities around the village are free and clear of snow.
  • Practice proper radio protocol as per company policy.
  • Practice safe work procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications:

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with valid air ticket is required.
  • Previous experience with front-end loaders and excavators is required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Able to work in sub-zero temperatures and all weather conditions.
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team.

Experienced Lift Mechanic / Millwright

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties assigned by the Manager and/or Director of Mountain Operations.
  • Identify and correct any problems found on lifts and lift components.
  • Adhere to assembly, maintenance, and installation instructions as per manufacturer manuals and specifications.
  • Actively involved in preventative and required maintenance of all lifts and lift maintenance equipment.
  • Operate company equipment safely and effectively as per company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain records of work completed as per related codes, legislation, and company policy
  • Report all lift maintenance related activities to the Manager and/or Director of Mountain Operations.
  • Ensure compliance of the current CSA Z98 code and legislation as they relate to the current lifts and lift maintenance practices.
  • Ensure work area(s) are kept safe and clean, report any damage, malfunction, or misuse of any company equipment and/or property.
  • Ensure radio protocols are followed as per company policy.
  • Assist with the transport of guests and equipment, where required.
  • Assist other departments with general maintenance needs, where required.
  • Assist in emergency situations.
  • Assist the lift operations department with opening and closing procedures.
  • Assist with the training of lift operators and lift maintenance personnel, where required.
  • Practice safe work procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Journeyman Millwright (preferred) or Apprentice Millwright (min 3rd year).
  • Previous lift maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the CSA Z98 Code is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Selkirk College lift mechanic courses is preferred – Lift 151 Surface Lifts, Lift 152 Fixed Grip Ski Lifts, Lift 153 Detachable Grip Ski Lifts (asset).
  • Knowledge of PLC electrical systems and components.
  • Welding ticket is an asset.
  • Previous snowmobile experience is preferred.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and machining.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic computer systems and applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced skier or snowboarder.
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Climbing and belay experience.

Food & Beverage: Front line position

Kitchen Team Members:

Responsibilities:

  • Daily preparation of menu items ensuring to follow item guidelines
  • Ensure the highest levels of quality are maintained
  • Set-up station according to departmental guidelines
  • Use and maintain all equipment in station
  • Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents
  • Report any infraction in the food services department policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Snow Patrol: Dispatcher FT & PT

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient operation of the base radio.
  • Act as a central hub for mountain communications, ensuring inter-departmental communications are relayed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that the dispatch logs are filled out properly and efficiently; including emergency response, transportation requests, maintenance issues, etc…
  • Collecting and reporting weather data for internal use such as daily mountain reports and website updates.
  • Ensure first aid and other investigation sheets are always in stock.
  • Entering information such as accident reports into the CWSAA online database on an on-going basis.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Occupational First Aid level II required, OFA III is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to remain calm and collected under pressure
  • Previous ski industry experience an asset

Snow Patrol: Patrol Team Members

We are now accepting applications for Patrollers for the 2018-2019 winter season. Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid for guests and staff in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Slope Risk Management: hazard prevention, hazard marking, etc…
  • Lift evacuation
  • Operation of first aid toboggans
  • Assist where possible in avalanche control
  • Assist in search and rescue
  • Educating staff and our guests to the components of the Alpine Responsibility Code; where necessary.
  • Snowmobile operation and safety
  • Weather observation and reporting where necessary
  • Mountain dispatch when needed
  • Public relations
  • Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications:

  • Occupational First Aid level (OFA) III and/or Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and/or Advanced Wilderness First Aid.
  • CAA Avalanche Operations Level 1 or greater an asset
  • High intermediate to Advanced alpine skier/boarder in all snow terrain and conditions
  • Previous toboggan handling skills an asset
  • High level of fitness and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous ski hill experience an asset
