Sasquatch Mountain Resort Drone Policy

❌ Recreational Drone Use Prohibited

For safety and privacy, the use of drones or unmanned aerial systems on or above Resort property is strictly prohibited for all recreational users, including hobbyists and media, unless prior written approval is obtained from Sasquatch Mountain Resort.

This restriction applies to flights launched within our Controlled Recreation Area (CRA) or private land outside our boundaries.

📜 Unauthorized Use Consequences

  • Immediate cease & desist request, followed by escort off-premises

  • Possible confiscation of the device

  • Suspension or revocation of access privileges (e.g., pass or rental holdings)

  • Liability for damages—covering personal injury, privacy breaches, trespass, or property harm—may be enforced

Transport Canada Compliance

All approved flights must comply with Transport Canada regulations for Basic and Advanced operations:

  • Fly below 400 ft (122 m) and maintain visual line-of-sight

  • Keep minimum horizontal distance: 30 m from bystanders (Basic operations) or 100 ft vertically for Sheltered operations

  • Avoid controlled airspace, airports, and heliports—must operate 1 NM from heliports, or 3 NM from airports

  • Fly only during daylight and good weather, below wind <15 km/h (Advanced ops)

  • Must show pilot certificate and drone registration ID onsite

  • Operate only one UAV with one controller, and have emergency response procedures in place

Key Safety Guidelines

  • Be 18 years or older (Basic) or 16+ under supervision (Basic only)

  • Do not fly over people, animals, buildings, parked vehicles or emergency operations

  • Maintain pre-flight checks, manage battery and radio frequencies

  • Keep drone in direct sight, and discontinue flight immediately if safety cannot be maintained

If the drone is over 25kg, the operator needs to apply for a Special Flight Operations certificate from Transport Canada. FOR MORE INFORMATION ->
